A Sewerline Video Inspection Technician leads subordinate workers in the inspection of sewerlines for leaks, breaks, clogs and damage using video inspection equipment. Work of this class involves no supervisory duties. Incumbents receive minimal supervision from a technical superior. Employees in this class work a conventional workweek and may be required to work some evening and weekend hours or held over until properly relieved or for emergencies. Work is performed outdoors where incumbents are exposed to such conditions as odors, inclement weather and traffic. Work requires moderate physical exertion.

Requirements

  • Graduated from an accredited high school or possession of a GED certificate.
  • Three years of experience in sewerline inspection and maintenance work using television camera, sealing equipment and video tape recorders.
  • Valid Maryland Class C Noncommercial driver's license or an equivalent driver's license and eligible to obtain a Baltimore City driver’s permit.
  • Criminal Background Check and/or Fingerprint must be successfully completed.
  • Complete a mandatory six-months probation.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of sewer construction, installation and maintenance work.
  • Knowledge of the operation of video equipment to inspect sewers.

Responsibilities

  • Leads subordinate workers in the inspection of sewerlines for leaks, breaks, clogs and damage using video inspection equipment.
  • Operate and make minor repairs on television cameras, sealing equipment and videotape recorders.
  • Interpret video inspection tapes for others.
  • Evaluate problems in sewerlines and make recommendations for corrections.
  • Maintain records and write reports.
  • Assign and review the work of others.
