Sewer Department Operator
About The Position
The Town of Lisbon, Maine, is seeking a motivated and dependable Sewer Department Operator for its Wastewater Treatment team. The position supports public health and environmental protection through operation, maintenance, monitoring, and repair of the Town’s wastewater treatment facility, pump stations, and sewer collection system. It is a full-time, non-exempt position with a pay range of $22.03–$26.78 per hour. The position includes participation in on-call rotations, emergency response, and weekend coverage as assigned. The Town describes this as an opportunity to contribute to a critical public service profession while working with a dedicated team serving the Lisbon community. Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Valid Maine Class B CDL with Tanker Endorsement, or ability to obtain one.
- Ability to obtain a Maine Class II Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator License.
Nice To Haves
- Experience in wastewater treatment, utilities, public works, construction, or mechanical maintenance.
Responsibilities
- Operate and monitor wastewater treatment processes and equipment.
- Perform preventive maintenance and repairs on plant systems and pump stations.
- Collect samples, conduct laboratory testing, and maintain compliance records.
- Assist with biosolids handling and dewatering operations.
- Participate in on-call rotations, emergency response, and weekend coverage as assigned.
