About The Position

The Set-up Technician is responsible for installing molds and auxiliary equipment to ensure production operates at peak efficiency. This role involves identifying and resolving setup issues, setting process parameters, performing purging methods, and creating quality parts while optimizing cycle times and minimizing scrap. The technician will also communicate effectively with various departments, train machine operators, report safety concerns, and maintain a clean work area. Additionally, this position requires the ability to operate a forklift and install/program robotics and end-of-arm tooling, while adhering to IQMS and ISO standards.

Responsibilities

  • Install mold and all auxiliary equipment necessary for production to perform at peak operating levels.
  • Recognize and rectify any issues within the set up process.
  • Set process parameters based on approved process sheet information.
  • Perform proper purging methods for material changes.
  • Maintain a professional attitude and work ethic, especially when working with customers.
  • Perform decouple processing techniques when necessary.
  • Create quality parts through obtained processing skills to optimize cycle times and minimize scrap.
  • Communicate effectively to operators, supervisors, material handlers, QA, maintenance and tooling.
  • Encourage and train machine operators on the necessities of their current molding operation.
  • Recognize and report safety issues.
  • Maintain work area cleanliness and organization.
  • Execute and maintain scheduling due dates.
  • Always maintain mold protection set points to the minimum operating values.
  • Develop and thoroughly/accurately document optimum processing parameters.
  • Back up Senior Process Engineer as necessary.
  • Execute and comply with IQMS and ISO systems and standards.
  • Ability to operate a forklift.
  • Ability to operate the installation and programming of robotics and end of arm tooling.
  • Responsible for meeting standards for efficiencies, scrap, and safety.
