About The Position

The Setup Technician is responsible for preparing and maintaining production equipment to ensure optimal operation. This role involves setting up, adjusting, and troubleshooting machinery used in the manufacturing process, ensuring that all equipment meets operational and safety standards. The technician plays a critical role in minimizing downtime and maintaining production efficiency.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical or vocational training preferred
  • Minimum 3 years of equivalent work experience in a fast-paced, high-volume manufacturing environment
  • Basic computer skills (MS Office)
  • Strong mechanical aptitude
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints, schematics, and assembly instructions
  • Strong logical hands-on problem-solving skills
  • Ability to use calipers, micrometers, gauges and other measurement tools
  • Familiar with metric measuring systems
  • Attention to detail (ensuring accuracy and precision)
  • Strong troubleshooting skills
  • Basic electrical skills
  • Attendance and punctuality.

Nice To Haves

  • 3 years of knowledge of running plastic injection molding machines preferred

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and start the injection molding machines for production and ensure they meet quality and efficiency standards.
  • Install molds, connect utilities, and make necessary adjustments to optimize the molding process.
  • Perform quality inspections and monitor production runs to ensure components/parts meet quality specifications.
  • Make timely adjustments and minor repairs to ensure that machinery and equipment meets operational specifications and tolerances.
  • Work with and communicate effectively with other technicians, engineers, and production staff to ensure smooth production operations.
  • Determine priority of adjustment and repairs to meet production deadlines and goals.
  • Troubleshoot machines, identify problems, and resolve issues to bring production back online with limited direction.
  • Identify and resolve potential equipment malfunctions.
  • Document repairs for traceability according to IMS Gear standards.
  • Strict adherence to lock out tag out procedures.
  • Use basic measuring equipment (micrometers, dial indicators and go/no-go gauges) to check quality of produced parts.
  • Operate walk-behind lifts for transporting machine equipment and finished parts to racks.
  • Train new team members on machine procedures and processes.
  • Perform operator duties when needed including material handling, loading materials into the machines, and transferring finished parts to the next process.
  • Following International Automotive Task Force quality standards – IATF 16949.
  • Following Internal Quality Issues procedure – IQI.
  • Ensure that safety rules and policies are followed.
  • Housekeeping – 6IMS-Standard.
  • Other duties as assigned.
