About The Position

The Set Up Technician prepares and sets up machinery for production and sample runs, supports process development, and troubleshoots production issues. The role involves reviewing schedules and job specifications, preparing molds and machinery, responding to machine alarms, completing job documentation, and dismantling equipment after jobs are complete. The technician may also support material handling, part trimming or inspection, reporting, maintenance activities, and other operations as needed.

Requirements

Two-year college degree or a minimum of five years of experience in setup and processing injection mold operations.
Ability to read and interpret blueprints.
Knowledge of engineering protocols.
Familiarity with metrology, preferably optical metrology.
Familiarity with various trade tools.
Strong attention to detail.
Good computer and math skills.
Strong communication skills.
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Ability to solve practical problems and handle a variety of concrete and abstract variables where limited standardization exists.

Responsibilities

Check the daily schedule for the next job in the queue.
Prepare and set up machinery for scheduled production runs by reviewing quality plans, work instructions, and job orders.
Inspect and prepare molds for job runs.
Select, position, and secure molds in machines.
Complete required job paperwork and reports, including downtime records.
Respond to machine alarms.
Shut down and purge machines.
Tear down completed jobs, complete the appropriate tool tag, and attach it to the tool with the last three shots.
Work on special projects and related assignments when requested.
Serve as a backup Material Handler when necessary.
Trim degates or inspect parts when required.
Compile reports and track data when required.
Read equipment manuals and suggest or assist with maintenance, service, or repairs when required.
Work in various areas of operations when necessary.
Perform other related duties and assignments as required.
