About The Position

The Set-Up Tech I is responsible for performing the complete mold change process, including mold/supply preparation, mold removal, mold installation, robot and secondary equipment set-up, clean-up, and organization. This role ensures that molds are properly prepped in advance and properly shut down and prepped for transportation to the mold shop. The technician sets up all auxiliary and secondary equipment related to each job change and assists with start-ups, color changes, and packer breaks as assigned. They work collaboratively with cell captains, quality control, packer leads, and material handlers to minimize machine downtime and meet production standards. The position requires understanding hazardous waste handling procedures and may involve material handling duties. The role emphasizes reliable attendance, adherence to safety procedures, effective teamwork, accountability, and meeting quality standards. Technicians are expected to understand and demonstrate Cambro company culture and core values (Safety, Quality, Respect, and Service) and contribute to department goals. Overtime and schedule flexibility are required to meet business needs.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or two to three years related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of an organization.
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
  • Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Must have valid class C license for forklift certification.
  • Must have knowledge and ability to perform all aspects of the material handler.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous mechanical/electrical/hydraulics training or experience helpful.
  • Paulson Practical Injection Molding (Basic) or similar course.
  • Previous packer position experience is helpful.

Responsibilities

  • Performing the complete mold change process including mold/supply preparation, mold removal, mold installation, robot and secondary equipment set-up, clean-up, and organization.
  • Ensuring molds are properly prepped in advance.
  • Ensuring molds being pulled are properly shut down and prepped for transportation to the mold shop.
  • Setting up all auxiliary and secondary equipment related to each job change.
  • Assisting with start-ups, color changes, and pulling packer breaks as assigned.
  • Working with cell captains, quality control, packer leads, and material handlers to minimize machine downtime and meet production standards.
  • Understanding procedures for handling hazardous waste and other trash.
  • Performing material handling duties when required.
  • Maintaining reliable and consistent attendance and punctuality.
  • Following all safety procedures, wearing required PPE, attending safety meetings, and reporting safety issues.
  • Performing effectively as a team member, working well with others, and treating everyone with respect.
  • Taking ownership of work and behavior, accepting accountability, encouraging solutions, and communicating work status.
  • Following all department quality standards/criteria and raising concerns to management.
  • Understanding and demonstrating Cambro company culture and core values.
  • Understanding department KPIs and contributing to achieving goals.
  • Performing other duties as needed or required.
  • Working overtime as needed.
