About The Position

This position is for a Sessional Lecturer to teach FOR200H1F: Conservation of Canada's Forests. The course covers forest conservation issues in Canada, including forest biology, ecology, biodiversity, management philosophy, sustainability concepts, sustainable forest management strategies, forest policy and economics, forest certification, and protected areas. The estimated course enrollment is 250 students, with an estimated 220 hours of TA support. The class schedule includes tutorials on Fridays from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM and lectures on Wednesdays from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM. The appointment dates are from September 1, 2026, to December 31, 2026, including the completion of any coursework and grading after December 31, 2026.

Requirements

  • Preferably a Ph.D. degree or extensive experience in forest conservation
  • Teaching experience and certificates are an asset

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and deliver lectures
  • Organize guest speakers
  • Maintain course notes and readings on Quercus
  • Set and mark course assignments (mid-term, essay, final examination, or other assignments) with TA support
  • Compile, record, and submit final marks
  • Be available to students through regular office hours
