About The Position

This course, WGS355H1S - Gendered Labour Around the World, will focus on masculinities and femininities in workplace settings, with an emphasis on service work around the world. The course will discuss workers' lived experiences of gender regimes embedded within the dynamics of class, race, and nation. The relationships between gender processes and workplace hierarchies will be explored. The estimated enrolment is 75 students, with an estimated TA support of 180 hours. The class schedule is Wednesday from 13:00 to 15:00. The delivery method is currently 100% in person, but may change as determined by the Faculty of Arts and Science or the Women and Gender Studies Institute. The sessional dates of appointment are January 1, 2027, to April 30, 2027.

Requirements

  • Completed Ph.D. with a scholarly background in areas related to the specific course required.

  • Expertise in Caribbean and/or Afro-Asian feminisms is an asset for this position.

Responsibilities

  • Preparing the syllabus, reading list and lecture materials
  • Delivering lectures
  • Developing, marking and administering course assignments, tests and final assessments
  • Holding regular office hours

  • Managing TAs and/or graders if applicable
