About The Position

This is a Sessional Lecturer I position for the course APS1001H: Project Management, offered in Fall 2026. The course covers the knowledge areas of the Project Management Institute, including integration, scope, cost, time, risk, human resources, procurement, and communications management. It takes a practical, applied approach using the "PMBOK Guide" textbook, in-class exercises, and a team paper on "lessons learned" from an actual project. This is a completely asynchronous online course with an estimated enrollment of 70-100 students. The appointment is for the Fall 2026 session, from September to December.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 10 years project management experience in leading engineering projects
  • PMP certification
  • Experience using Microsoft Project
  • Knowledge of and experience in teaching the concepts: Integration Management, Stakeholder Management, Scope Management, Time Management, Cost Management, Communications Management, Procurement Management, Risk Management, and Human Resource Management
  • Skills in teaching students techniques which work on increasing value to organizations and the marketplace
  • Strong record of presenting lectures
  • Ability to effectively translate presentation skills into an online format
  • Ability to administer an online course in an effective manner
  • Ability to explain concepts clearly
  • Must have taught APS1001 or similar project management course

Responsibilities

  • Delivers lectures for online delivery
  • Prepare midterm quiz
  • Prepare final quiz
  • Attend Q and A sessions
  • Answer student questions
  • Oversee project updates and marking (with TAs, if applicable)
