About The Position

This position is for a Sessional Lecturer to teach LINB09H3 - Phonetics: The Study of Speech Sounds for the Fall 2026 semester. The course examines the physiological and acoustic bases of speech. The appointment dates are from September 8, 2026, to December 23, 2026. The estimated course enrollment is 130 students, with an estimated 1 position available and 230 hours of TA support. This job is posted in accordance with the CUPE 3902 Unit 3 Collective Agreement.

Requirements

  • Ph.D. in Linguistics or similar area of study with a particular focus on phonetics.
  • Strong academic record and professional promise.
  • Teaching experience in the area of Phonetics required.

Nice To Haves

  • Preference in hiring is given to qualified individuals advanced to the rank of Sessional Lecturer II or Sessional Lecturer III in accordance with Article 14:12 of the CUPE 3902 Unit 3 collective agreement.

Responsibilities

  • All normal duties related to the design and teaching of a university credit course, including preparation and delivery of course content; development, administration and marking of assignments; calculation and submission of grades; holding regular office hours.

Benefits

  • In accordance with the current CUPE 3902 Unit 3 Collective Agreement, the stipend rate for a half course (Y, F or S), inclusive of vacation pay, will be: Sessional Lecturer I: $9,997.47, Sessional Lecturer I – Long Term: $10,699.21, Sessional Lecturer II: $10,699.21, Sessional Lecturer II – Long Term: $10,953.96, Sessional Lecturer III: $10,953.95, Sessional Lecturer III – Long Term: $11,228.90
