About The Position

Students are introduced to the foundational elements of acting, vocal, and physical training. In a studio setting, students undertake practical exercises focused on establishing fundamental skills, physical grounding, and professional behaviours. In addition, the course familiarizes students with the backstage and front-of-house working environment of a professional theatre. The course includes production-related duties assigned according to individualized schedules, typically concentrated in 3- to 6-week periods and including some work in the evenings and/or on weekends. This posting is for the 0.25 FCE of the course focused on crew and production.

Requirements

• BFA/BA or equivalent in Theatre or Theatre Production
• strong evidence of established and ongoing professional experience
• clear evidence of teaching expertise
• strong evidence of understanding of production processes, esp. related to props and set design and construction
• familiarity with backstage operations in educational theatre settings.

Nice To Haves

• Preference in hiring is given to qualified individuals advanced to the rank of Sessional Lecturer II or Sessional Lecturer III in accordance with Article 14:12 of the CUPE 3902 Unit 3 collective agreement.

Responsibilities

• All normal duties related to the design and teaching of a university credit course, including preparation and delivery of course content; development, administration and marking of assignments; calculation and submission of grades.
