In Educational Research 2, candidates will build upon the research literacy developed in CTL 7006 to acquire foundational skills for conducting research. They will undertake a small-scale qualitative research study utilizing either semi-structured interviews or document analysis methods. Emphasis will be placed on research design, data collection, data analysis, and knowledge mobilization within one's practice and beyond. Students will gain a deeper understanding of how their own positionalities and experiences shape their identities as teacher-researchers. The course format will integrate whole-class instruction, research methods workshops, and independent work periods. The final assignments will include a research paper of 3750-5000 words and a presentation at the annual MT Research Conference. This course is offered in French to TCs in the program who wish to enhance their French language skills. It is delivered in collaboration with the Centre de recherches en éducation franco-ontarienne (CREFO). The selected candidate will have the opportunity to align teaching with CREFO's research and community initiatives, fostering dynamic discussions on plurilingualism, language-friendly pedagogies, inclusion, and French-language education.
