About The Position

This course focuses on perception algorithms for robotics applications and sensors. The aim is to provide an understanding of the challenges encountered when deploying perception algorithms on a robot and introduce some of the tools and algorithms typically used to address these challenges. The algorithms will also be implemented and evaluated using real-world data from common use-cases. The estimated course enrollment is 60 students. The Sessional Dates of Appointment are from September 1, 2026, to December 31, 2026. The class schedule is in-person, with a lecture on Thursday from 9:00 to 11:00 and practical sessions on Thursday from 13:00 to 14:00 and 14:00 to 15:00.

Requirements

  • Completion of a graduate degree in Computer Science or education
  • Advanced comprehension of the subject matter as evidenced by research activity, industry experience, or teaching experience
  • Strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills

Responsibilities

  • Developing and delivering lectures
  • Preparing tutorials, assignments, tests, and marking schemes
  • Maintaining a course website
  • Providing appropriate contact time outside of class to students through office hours, emails, the course website, and/or the course discussion board
  • Writing the TA contract(s) for the course and supervising the TAs
  • Managing the grading for the course, which is largely done by TAs
  • Doing any grading not handled by TAs
  • Invigilating the final exam
  • Managing the grades and submitting the final course grades
  • Dealing with student petitions
  • Setting and grading a make-up exam if required
  • Following the basic content and style used by the faculty members who normally teach the course
