About The Position

This position is for a Sessional Instructional Assistant for the course HIS230H5F - Introduction to European History 1300-1815. The course covers European history from the late Middle Ages to the end of the Napoleonic Wars, emphasizing major political, cultural, economic, and social changes that created early modern Europe. The estimated course enrollment is 60 students, with an estimated TA support of 115. The class schedule is Thursdays, 1:00 PM - 3:00 PM, and the hours of work for the TA are Thursdays, 4:00 PM - 7:00 PM. The sessional dates of appointment are from September 1, 2026, to December 31, 2026.

Requirements

  • Completed PhD or (for non-U. of T. graduate students) equivalent, with major field in the relevant topic area.
  • Demonstrated effectiveness as a teaching assistant
  • Academic qualifications in the subject
  • Ability to introduce students to a diverse range of approaches
  • Suitability for the position

  • Preference in hiring is given to qualified individuals advanced to the rank of Sessional Lecturer II or Sessional Lecturer III in accordance with Article 14:12 of the CUPE 3902 Unit 3 collective agreement.
