About The Position

The Department of Management has Sessional Instructional Assistant (SIA) positions available for the Fall 2025 academic term. Applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates. Late applications will not be considered. The appointment dates for Fall courses are from September 1st to December 31st. The minimum hourly rate for a Sessional Instructional Assistant, effective September 1, 2026, is $55.25 plus 4% vacation pay.

Requirements

  • Must have completed and achieved a minimum grade of “A” in MGT120/MGT220/MGT224 or equivalent course (for MGT120H5).
  • Must have completed and achieved a superior grade in MGT150 or equivalent course (for MGT150H5).
  • Must have completed and achieved a minimum grade of “A” in MGT223 or equivalent course (for MGT223H5).
  • Must have completed and achieved a minimum grade of “A” in MGT225 or equivalent course (for MGT225H5).
  • A Bachelor degree in Business/Commerce with relevant auditing courses and CPA with practical audit experience (for MGT321).
  • Current knowledge of CAS (for MGT321).
  • Must have passed the CFE or UFE (for MGT325H5).
  • Must have completed and achieved a minimum grade of “A” in MGT326 or equivalent course (for MGT326H5).
  • Must be available to conduct tutorial classes during scheduled times (for MGT326H5).
  • Must have completed and achieved a minimum grade of “A” in MGT363 or equivalent course (for MGT363H5).
  • Must have completed and achieved a minimum grade of “A” in MGT421 or equivalent course (for MGT421).
  • Must have completed and achieved a minimum grade of “A” in MGT422 or equivalent course (for MGT422H5).
  • Must have completed and achieved a minimum grade of “A” in MGT423 or equivalent course (for MGT423H5).
  • Must be available to conduct tutorial classes during scheduled times (for MGT428).
  • Must have completed and achieved a minimum grade of “A” in MGT428 or equivalent course (for MGT428).
  • Must have completed and achieved a minimum grade of “A” in MGT442 or equivalent course (for MGT442H5).
  • Must be available to conduct tutorial classes during scheduled times (for MGT442H5).
  • Must be available to meet with instructor at UTM during business hours (for MGT120H5).
  • Courseware support competencies: must be comfortable with internet-based course and grade delivery (for MGT120H5).
  • Must be available to teach at scheduled tutorial times, hold occasional office hours during afternoons on days before tests and able to meet weekly with instructor at UTM during business hours (for MGT225H5).

  • Preference given to those with prior coordinator experience in this course (for MGT120H5).
  • Advanced degree desirable, proven course administration skills, and experience with management of large size courses (for MGT120H5).

  • Professional accounting designation, or enrolled at an advanced level, in a professional accounting program, TA, or teaching experience in an equivalent course (for MGT223H5).
  • Professional accounting certification or B.Com with accounting concentration (CPA preferred) (for MGT225H5).
  • Strong written and oral communication skills (for MGT225H5).
  • Preference given to those with prior TA experience in this and/or equivalent course (for MGT321).
  • Current knowledge of CAS (for MGT321).
  • Professional accounting designation with CPA Audit experience and detailed understanding of CAS (for MGT321).
  • Experience in marking professional examinations is an asset (for MGT321).
  • Prefer prior experience with grading CFE-type case-based exams (for MGT325H5).
  • Experience with giving written feedback on student case-type assignments (for MGT325H5).
  • Excellent knowledge of English grammar and writing (for MGT325H5).
  • Good understanding of business communications (for MGT325H5).
  • Some understanding of the writing elements required for accounting exams such as the Common Final Exam (for MGT325H5).
  • Strong organizational skills (for MGT325H5).
  • Preference, experience grading MGT426 (for MGT326H5).
  • Preference given to applicants with previous TA experience in this or equivalent course(s) in marking accounting tests, assignments and exams (for MGT326H5).
  • Preference given to UofT Graduate students (for MGT326H5).
  • A Bachelor degree in Business/Commerce or related discipline, with a specialization in Human Resource Management (HRM) and/or Industrial Relations (for MGT363H5).
  • Demonstrated expertise in the subject (for MGT363H5).
  • Preference: PhD or MA students in HRM/Organizational Behaviour, and Industrial-Organizational Psychology (for MGT363H5).
  • Professional accounting designation with practical audit experience and a detailed understanding of Canadian Auditing Standards (CAS) (for MGT421).
  • Experience in marking professional examinations is an asset (for MGT421).
  • CPA with specialty EDP auditing (CISA preferred) or MMPA student (for MGT422H5).
  • Two tax courses in Canadian Income Taxation with a grade of A- or better (for MGT423H5).
  • Work experience in tax is preferred (for MGT423H5).
  • B.Com graduate with professional management control experience or suitably qualified graduate student (for MGT428).
  • Graduate student who has completed relevant graduate-level finance courses (for MGT442H5).
  • PhD student in accounting or finance preferred (for MGT442H5).

Responsibilities

  • Grading quizzes, tests, assignments & exams.
  • Meet with or respond to students inquiries during office hours (virtual or in-person).
  • Invigilate quizzes, tests & exams.
  • Update material and grades on Quercus courseware.
  • Attend weekly lecture and/or review lecture material.
  • Conduct tutorials, which may include some lecturing.
  • Course administration.
  • TA supervision.
  • Test/exam preparation & grading.
  • Course support services, Student Services.
  • Other duties as required.
