About The Position

The Department of Arts, Culture and Media at the University of Toronto Scarborough is seeking a Sessional Instructional Assistant for the VPAB13H3F Financial Management for Arts Managers course during the Fall 2026 academic session. This is an emergency posting in accordance with the CUPE 3902, Unit 3 Collective Agreement. The course provides an introduction to financial management issues for arts and cultural managers, covering basic accounting concepts, financial statement preparation and analysis, internal control, budgeting, cash management, and tax-related issues. The position is tentative, pending final course determinations and enrolments. Sessional dates are from September 8 to December 8, 2026, excluding the exam period. All positions require completion of all course grading and availability throughout the exam period.

Requirements

  • Degree in a related field.
  • Preference given to applicants with a degree in Arts Management or Arts & Media Management.
  • Good prior knowledge of the subject matter (accounting, bookkeeping, budgeting, financial statements and controls).
  • Knowledge gained through related studies and/or relevant paid, volunteer, or field placement-related work in the arts and media sectors.
  • Availability throughout the exam period.

Responsibilities

  • Marking assignments and tests.
  • Running classes, including managing discussion boards.
  • Coaching students in spreadsheet software use and financial management during office hours.
  • Student administration.
  • Additional responsibilities as deemed appropriate by the instructor.
