You’ll guide, inform, and coordinate care behind the scenes, helping ensure every visit is seamless, informed, and compassionate. Success in this role requires experience navigating insurance requirements and securing prior authorizations for procedures, helping prevent delays in patient care and treatment.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • One year of clerical experience
  • Effective communication, along with phone and computer skills
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize in a fast-paced environment
  • All roles require on-site presence (variable by role). Therefore, all employees should live within a commutable distance to NYP.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience obtaining insurance authorizations and pre-procedure approvals in a hospital, radiology, specialty practice, or healthcare setting strongly preferred
  • Knowledge of health insurance benefits/requirements
  • Knowledge of ICD Coding
  • College degree
  • Energetic, approachable individual with a desire to put patients first.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate complex, multi-specialty appointments, procedures, and surgeries
  • Verify insurance benefits and obtain complex prior authorizations/pre-procedure approvals for Interventional Radiology services, partnering with payers, providers, and patients to ensure timely authorization and minimize care delays
  • Track, monitor, and follow up on pending authorizations, appeals, and payer requests to support timely patient access to care
  • Serve as a front-line resource—welcoming patients, answering questions, and easing concerns
  • Manage scheduling workflows, inbox communications, and provider calendars
  • Collect and maintain accurate patient demographic, insurance, and medical record information
  • Collaborate with internal teams and referring providers to ensure timely, coordinated care
  • Support patients with forms, portal enrollment, and procedure preparation instructions
  • Provide cross-coverage with Patient Registrars during lunch breaks and/or absences to greet all patients and visitors upon arrival
