The Invasive Cath Lab/Interventional Radiology Technologist performs interventional radiology examinations and invasive cardiac procedures on patients based on department procedures and under the direction of appropriate supervisor. This role requires technological proficiency in assisting physicians with all procedures in interventional radiology and/or the cardiac catheterization lab, direct assistance in diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, and communication of clinical observations to the performing physician. The technologist must remain current in practice, utilize expertise in the technological aspects of interventional radiology and/or invasive cardiology, and demonstrate proficiency in operating all equipment and supplies. They are accountable for accurate procedural documentation in Epic, understanding specific medications used in Cardiac catheterization procedures, monitoring patient hemodynamic status, and responding appropriately to parameter fluctuations. Proficiency in maintaining hemostasis of access sites and ensuring the quality of digital images sent to PACS is also required, including verifying correct patient selection and accuracy of Medical Record information.
