5052 Servo Engineer Intern
About The Position
The San Jose Storage Design Center (SDC), part of Toshiba America Electronic Components, Inc. (TAEC), designs and develops hard disk drives and supports Toshiba’s storage needs. SDC is described as a relatively small and diverse group with a flexible and supportive work environment, within walking distance of restaurants and light rail and a short drive from San Jose Airport. As a summer intern on the servo team, the employee will work on hard disk drive technologies with experienced engineers and other functional teams to meet product requirements. This is a temporary employment recruitment reporting to the VOLT Agency.
Requirements
- Currently pursuing a degree in Engineering or a related field.
- Solid background in servo control, ideally including graduate-level coursework.
- Strong embedded coding skills.
- Understanding of signal processing.
- Familiarity with simulation tools such as Matlab.
- Good communication skills.
- Willingness to learn and passion for problem solving.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team and productively independently.
Responsibilities
- Enhance existing servo control features.
- Investigate and develop new servo control algorithms and tuning schemes.
- Bring up and verify servo functionalities on new platforms.
- Perform servo evaluations and failure analysis.
- Prepare design documents and conduct design reviews.
- Support product manufacturing and qualification.
