About The Position

Peraton is seeking a Service Now Engineer for a 100% remote role. The engineer will be responsible for designing and developing custom ServiceNow applications, building solutions beyond out-of-the-box functionality, and customizing existing modules to meet customer-specific requirements. This role requires experience in standing up and customizing a Service Portal, developing workflows, automation, and integrations, and writing/testing ServiceNow scripts. The engineer will also develop custom UI components, ensure solutions are scalable and maintainable, analyze requirements, and collaborate within an Agile/DevSecOps environment. The role involves working independently, maintaining knowledge of ServiceNow data structures, configuring MID Servers, implementing RBAC, adhering to security and compliance requirements, and standing up new instances. Experience tracing data points in a domain-separated environment is also necessary. The work style expectations include operating with a high level of ownership and autonomy, proactively progressing work, and maintaining consistent communication within a small, remote team.

Requirements

  • 5 years experience with BS/BA; 3 years with MS/MA; 0 years with PhD
  • Must be a US Citizen
  • Experience with developing Service Now custom applications
  • Experience with App Engine Studio
  • Experience with creating a ServicePortal application and maintaining widgets within ServicePortal
  • Experience working in a domain separated Environment
  • Experience with configuring and installing Service Now fresh
  • Experience deploying new code using Update sets

Responsibilities

  • Design and develop custom ServiceNow applications using App Engine Studio and/or traditional scoped application development.
  • Build solutions beyond out-of-the-box functionality, including custom modules, data models, platform extensions, and service portal widgets.
  • Experience in standing up and customizing a Service Portal is a must.
  • Clone, extend, and customize existing ServiceNow modules to meet customer-specific requirements.
  • Develop workflows, automation, and integrations with external systems (REST/SOAP APIs, third-party platforms).
  • Write, test, and debug ServiceNow scripts (Business Rules, Script Includes, Client Scripts, UI Policies, Flow Designer, Fix Scripts).
  • Develop custom UI components (UI Pages, UI Actions, Service Portal elements).
  • Ensure solutions are scalable, maintainable, and aligned with ServiceNow best practices.
  • Analyze requirements and translate them into technical solutions, including researching and adapting platform capabilities as needed.
  • Collaborate with developers and team members within an Agile/DevSecOps environment (stories, estimation, lightweight ceremonies).
  • Work independently on development tasks and progress assigned work items through completion.
  • Maintain and apply knowledge of ServiceNow data structures (tables, dictionary, relationships, CMDB).
  • Configure and utilize MID Server for integrations and data movement.
  • Implement role-based access controls (RBAC) and platform security configurations.
  • Adhere to security and compliance requirements (e.g., FedRAMP/DoD/STIG).
  • Able to stand up new instance and configure for new application or migration of current applications in SNOW.
  • Experience tracing data points to respective tables in domain separated environment.
