About The Position

The Larson Group Peterbilt is seeking an experienced Service Writer to greet and consult service customers about their concerns, open Paccar Solution / Decisiv cases and work orders, and assist with coordination and communication within the service department. The role performs a variety of tasks in the service and warranty departments and is designated as safety-sensitive.

Requirements

High school diploma.
Dealership service shop experience is strongly preferred but not required.

Nice To Haves

College degree or trade school certificate.
Experience in a dealership service shop environment.

Responsibilities

Open and close Paccar Solution / Decisiv cases and repair orders, providing the customer, vehicle, and repair information needed for each work order.
Record, adjust, and report mechanics’ time for repair orders and payroll.
Manage flat-rate repair orders and ensure related billing accuracy.
Control work in process, close repair orders, and maintain a repair order closure rate of under 15 days and a five-day lag since the last punch time.
Maintain the GPM set by the service manager on all repair orders.
Work with the Foreman and technicians to maintain efficiency and productivity goals set by the service manager.
Supervise and assist technicians with diagnosing and repairing their jobs, and bring technician problems to the service manager’s attention.
Ensure information needed to file warranty claims is documented and saved before submission to the warranty department.
Check in new trucks delivered to the shop and complete the appropriate documentation.
Consult with the parts department on special-order parts and sublet repairs.
Instruct the following shift’s service writer on special instructions and appointments.
