About The Position

Responsible for the maintenance and care of city streets, alleys, right of ways, stormwater utilities, and city-owned buildings. This role requires the ability to act on behalf of the superintendent in their absence, drive large trucks and equipment like backhoes, and understand FDOT requirements for traffic, right of way, and road/sidewalk maintenance, repair, and construction. The position also involves operating general lawn equipment and working under the direction of superintendents and the Public Works Director.

Requirements

  • High school graduate or possession of an acceptable equivalency diploma.
  • Two (2) years of experience in truck driving, street maintenance, or a similar field.
  • Valid Florida Driver’s License – Class “B” CDL.
  • Class “C” Stormwater Certification must be obtained within the first (1) year of employment.
  • Must obtain and maintain a (Chapter 482) Limited Certification Florida Lawn and Ornamental Pesticide Applications license within one (1) year of employment.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain city streets, alleys, right of ways, stormwater utilities, and city-owned buildings.
  • Knowledge of FDOT requirements for traffic, road and sidewalk maintenance, repairs, and construction.
  • Maintain, repair, and upkeep of city buildings.
  • Secures buildings and checks heating, ventilating, and air conditioning units; makes minor maintenance repairs; replaces light bulbs; installs light switches; replaces fuses; repairs door locks; replaces window glass; makes basic repairs to furniture.
  • Acts in the absence of the superintendent. Directs personnel.
  • Work occasionally on weekends, nights, holidays, and special events.
  • Works On-Call rotation.
  • Perform other related duties as directed or required by the Public Works Director.
