About The Position

We are looking for a highly motivated and organized individual who is looking for an entry level technician position in our Anchorage, AK branch. This role is responsible for inspecting, cleaning, prepping, and testing new Cat machines for delivery to the customer. It also involves assembling, installing, and testing various Cat and allied attachments. The position is responsible for incoming and outgoing inspections on the heavy rents fleet, servicing equipment at necessary intervals, and performing minor troubleshooting and repairs. The Service Trainee/Helper Mechanic will work closely with the shop supervisor, sales department, yard attendant, and rental coordinators to effectively manage the influx of new Cat equipment and to manage the availability status of rental equipment. Other responsibilities include assisting other heavy equipment technicians in various repairs, steam cleaning various machines, and assisting in shop cleanup activities and trash removal.

Requirements

  • A high school diploma or equivalent or a graduate of a 2-4 year vocational technical school training institution or equivalent experience is required.
  • A valid driver's license is vital as it will be used for potential forklift driving and operation of equipment such as hydraulic and mechanical presses, hoists, cranes, pressure washers, and more.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Products and Outlook.
  • Ability to stand up to eight hours per day and includes twisting, bending, squatting, sitting stooping and kneeling.
  • Flexibility to travel for extended periods of time to work with customers.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working at a Caterpillar (CAT) dealership or with CAT products is ideal.

Responsibilities

  • Inspecting, cleaning, prepping, and testing new Cat machines for delivery to the customer.
