About The Position

The Mechanic & Shipping Assistant role is designed to provide comprehensive support across the entire workshop project workflow. Key responsibilities include: organizing and staging materials in the workshop, including housekeeping, for the job preparation phase; assisting with shipping & receiving; transport of equipment to/from customers and suppliers; offering mechanical assistance during disassembly and assembly when needed. Requirements

  • Forklift experience required.
  • Valid driver’s license required.
  • Knowledge in the use of hand and power tools is required.
  • Must have ability to multi-task and handle multiple assignments at one time.
  • Ability to follow step-by-step procedures with accuracy is required.
  • Must have good interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Basic Computer Skills: general data entry and documentation skills; Microsoft Outlook preferred.
  • Education Requirements: Vocational or High School.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of overhead crane, including hoisting and rigging techniques is preferred.
  • Previous 1 year of hands-on mechanical experience, (preferably in a job setting), preferred.
  • Knowledge of mechanical disassembly & assembly preferred.
  • Previous shipping/receiving experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Properly arrange and store items after disassembly.
  • Verify quantities, stage, and prepare items for each work order, prior to the start of the assembly process.
  • Daily workshop housekeeping activities to ensure clean, organized and safe work areas.
  • Package parts/equipment into appropriate shipping containers and prepare for shipment; load trucks.
  • Assist in providing shipping documentation and the coordination of transportation of shipments.
  • Unload and receive deliveries, verify quantities are correct and identify and document missing or incorrect items.
  • Occasionally transport and deliver to and/or pick up equipment from, customers and suppliers.
  • Occasionally assist in the performance of mechanical duties on equipment as instructed, in the disassembly, assembly and testing of equipment, in accordance with QA, health/safety policies and OSHA requirements.
  • Interface with project management, technical personnel, logistics, purchasing and other staff as needed to complete projects.
  • Perform other housekeeping and maintenance activities as required.
  • Provide any additional support where needed.
