As a Service Solutions Business Technician, you will be in charge of providing Service Delivery (installs) and Service Assurance (repairs) to our valued business customers daily. The Business Technicians are expert problem-solvers who work well under pressure and in all weather conditions. They must be analytical and enjoy working with their hands. Technicians should also be excellent communicators and enjoy challenges.

Requirements

  • AS degree OR High School Diploma/GED Equivalent with at least three (3) years of experience
  • Knowledge of basic electricity
  • Must be able to operate motor vehicles with care.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license.
  • Must be able to get and maintain special passes for military bases, airport, seaport and other installations to meet the needs of businesses.
  • Three years of experience in the installation, maintenance and repair of POTS telephone, instruments, switches, routers and associated equipment or related industry experience.
  • Must have computer skills to include but not limited to installing and troubleshooting and provisioning of IP switches and routers.
  • Must have experience with MS Office: Word, Excel, PowerPoint
  • Must have basic office computer skills.
  • Knowledge of standard trades practices, methods, procedures, tools, materials and equipment used in the installation, maintenance and repair of business lines and other comparable systems.
  • Ability to identify differences in wire and color codes.
  • Regular, punctual and consistent attendance.
  • Must be able to work any shift and weekends, variable schedule(s) as necessary to meet the needs and goals of the business.
  • Ability to understand, read, write and follow oral and written instructions.

Responsibilities

  • Communicates changes for facility record(s) as required by GTA
  • Install and repair these services: POTS Centrex PRI Internet Digital TV VOIP Data Circuits CLEC services
  • Install and repair these transport technologies: Broadband (copper) Fiber Fixed Wireless (FW) Fortinet
  • Decipher data analysis of trouble tickets to determine immediate repair and as required long term repairs.
  • Able to test OSP facilities for loop resistance and transmission using the current GTA diagnostic tools. These can be handheld test equipment as well as online network management systems.
  • Splice and redress cables in pedestals, terminate jumpers at cross connect boxes REC's, CO and multi-terminals.
  • Install and repair temporary aerial service lines in accordance with standard practices.
  • Installs service drop wires to make connections on NIDS and terminals.
  • Install and repair NIDS, inside wiring data cable (Cat3, Cat5 and single mode fiber) and connecting blocks in accordance with standard practices.
  • Install and repair NIDS and 110 punch blocks, inside wiring data (all copper and fiber-based cables) cable and connecting blocks in accordance with standard practices.
  • Install and diagnose broadband equipment (inclusive of but limited to modems and ONT)
  • Install and diagnose digital TV equipment (inclusive but limited to Set Top Boxes and switches)
  • Install and diagnose network equipment (Wi-Fi routers, POS and switches.
  • Provision and complete level 1 testing for hardware.
  • Install switches, racks, VOIP instruments, repeaters, amplifiers, and Metro E equipment.
  • Provisioning of switches, Pairgain equipment, DE-4 Channel Banks, and VOIP instruments.
  • Keeps supplies ready by inventorying stock, placing orders, verifying receipt.
  • Performs work for the installation of services and maintenance but not limited to video, complex telephone systems and VOIP networks.
  • Ability to apply safe work practices on the job.
  • Performs other related duties as required.
