About The Position

Manage a service facility that handles high-speed marine diesel engines; basic diesel technology up to EPA tier 4 common rail engines in both pleasure and commercial applications. The Service Manager is responsible for supervision, scheduling, training, motivation and evaluation of service personnel in accordance with Company policies. Work involves ability to work independently, use initiative and manage effectively.

Requirements

  • Thorough product and warranty knowledge.
  • Well-developed oral and written communication skills required.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record.
  • Basic computer skills are required.
  • Ability to function in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience dealing with customers in difficult situations, good phone etiquette.
  • Good organizational skills, aptitude for numbers, and experience coordinating and processing paperwork.
  • Ability to motivate and lead a team.
  • Strong focus on growth of department.
  • High School diploma or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
  • Experienced in service operations and management.
  • Strong technical/mechanical skills and experience, and diesel product knowledge required.
  • Experienced in customer relations.

Nice To Haves

  • Post-secondary vocational education strongly preferred.
  • Systems Certified.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for day-to-day operations of the field service department and shop technicians.
  • Manage all service activities including repair shop, field service department, and warranty administration.
  • Prepare service operations budget.
  • Promote service sales and prepare quotations.
  • Coordinate service technical information.
  • Monitor and analyze established policies and procedures.
  • Operate Service Department to maximize margins, productivity and efficiency.
  • Ensure that Service Department operates in a clean and safe manner.
  • Comply with Company policies and procedures.
  • Perform job safely with respect to others, to property and to individual safety.
  • Works effectively with others in the Company to encourage teamwork and productivity.
  • Successfully complete product training as provided by company.
  • Ability to adhere to a regular work schedule is required.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Directly supervises one or more employees in the service department. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training new employees; disciplining employees, addressing complaints and resolving issues.
