About The Position

This position coordinates the surgical service specific technology and creates a positive and efficient culture of service to the physicians and team members. The Coordinator is primarily responsible for the day-to-day operations and coordinating quality improvement and equipment maintenance for the specialty Program. This role manages the surgery schedule, communicating with scheduling offices and OLOL OR Schedulers about needs for schedule changes, rescheduling, and providing clear, concise information to ensure procedures are posted correctly and correlate with the surgeon's intended surgical procedure. It involves creating/updating/revising procedure cards to achieve an accurate list of supplies for the materials management team to ensure proper items are pulled/sent for cases. The role also includes ordering and maintaining inventory of service line instruments and accessories, and ordering and maintaining ancillary supplies related to surgery. Works with the Surgical Services Administrative Support Supervisor/Manager for new items requested, obtaining new item numbers, and sending out items for repair/exchange. Meets and welcomes new physicians to the service with an organized methodology. Maintains and updates OR/Hospital protocols related to ophthalmology surgery. Serves as the OR Specialty liaison between the hospital and physicians, ensuring an excellent patient experience. Meets the orientation, continuing educational needs, and competency development of nursing/tech personnel assigned to the specialty area within the service area. Serves as a consultant in the area of clinical specialty. Provides clinical practice leadership to foster patient safety and an excellent patient experience. Works collaboratively with the business manager in an effort to meet and maintain department quality metrics related to the service line. Assists with planning and carrying out special hospital and community programs as required/related to the service line. Plans, organizes, and attends quarterly/annual service line Committee Meetings.

Requirements

  • 3 years' Experience in Clinical OR
  • RN
  • BLS Certification
