About The Position

Supports Nebraska Methodist Hospital & Methodist Women's Hospital. Assists in providing quality of care and safety to our patients, employees and providers.

Requirements

  • Bachelors of Science in Nursing (BSN) required. If no BSN, must have a Masters Degree in Nursing.
  • Masters degree required - Nursing, hospital or business administration (MA, MBA, MHA, etc).
  • Minimum of 3 years clinical experience as a health care/clinical practitioner required.
  • Minimum of 4 years experience in a middle to upper management position required.
  • Current valid Registered Nurse (RN) license, valid compact multistate license, or a temporary permit while awaiting licensure required.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to act as a problem definer, problem solver, and negotiator while working with complex variables, including multiple departments and procedures, diverse groups and sophisticated, integrated systems.

Nice To Haves

  • Current American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) strongly preferred at time of hire, required within 3 months of hire.

Responsibilities

  • Provides appropriate care specific to the age of the customer/patient, to ensure understanding and comfort level of treatment, as outlined in the Age Specific Criteria.

  • In collaboration with the medical staff, physician leadership and hospital, participates in the development, implementation of excellent clinical practices, evidence-based standards, patient care programs and protocols to ensure safe patient care.
  • Promotes and demonstrates commitment to continuous Performance Improvement to meet or exceed national benchmark standards and ensure that appropriate actions are taken in response to analysis of data.
  • Facilitates medical and nursing research and use of evidence-based practice.
  • Planning & Decision Making – Planning, prioritizing, time management, problem solving, innovation, initiative and financial savvy.
  • Demonstrates in-depth knowledge of revenue drivers.
  • Assess and allocate staffing effectiveness based on patient care needs.
  • In collaboration with the campus leadership teams facilitates the development of an annual budget forecasting revenue, expenses and capital expenditures.
  • Solicits physician input and shares information regarding key initiatives and care delivery structure, process and outcome.
  • Follows through on Medical Staff concerns regarding care process and care delivery structures.
  • Responsible for monitoring the performance of actual to budget and developing action plans to address variances.
  • Participates in development and implementation of hospital systems which support the structure, process and outcomes of patient care.
  • Participates in ongoing Value Analysis of products.
  • Leads and facilitates program development.
  • Developing People - Recruiting top talent, developing and retaining top talent.
  • Serves as a professional role model of the organization's leadership standards, mentor to motivate, develop, retain and recruit future leaders.
  • Serves as a change agent, assisting all staff in understanding the importance, necessity, impact and process of change.
  • Serves as a representative to local and national professional organizations to remain current about nursing issues and promotes the image of nursing.
  • Develops and maintains leadership succession plan.
  • Mentors current and future leaders.
  • Collaborates with academic institutions in the community to mentor graduating clinicians.
  • Compliance - Achieve compliance with appropriate standards relating to operations, safety and patient care as promulgated by regulatory agencies, accrediting commissions, professional organizations, and Hospital board and administration.
  • Reviews and revised procedures and policies which assure regulatory compliance and consistency between departments and services.
  • Ensures compliance with safe and efficient use of equipment and other material resources.
  • Provides direction in the development and implementation of policies and procedures that guide and support the provision of services.
  • Effectively manages system-wide processes that support patient flow (admissions, assessment of treatment, transfers and discharges).
  • Holds others and staff accountable to comply with ethical standards of practice.
