About The Position

We are currently seeking a Service Engineering Manager for our Data Center Technology operations in Virginia and Texas. The incumbent will be stationed at our Daleville, Virginia facility and will report to our Director of Service Engineering. This position will manage direct reports in our Virginia facility as well as a group in our Selma, Texas facility and a number of remote workers. This role is intended to help drive revenue growth through sales of controls parts and services, new product introduction support, and engineering excellence. The incumbent will help develop strategic plans for controls development, improve data center service capability for ALC controls and control strategies for data center products, and generate a standard computer software list for DC products. They will also train Service Techs & Trainers on program logic for troubleshooting and tuning, proper methods for network setup, commissioning strategies, and how to download to each device. Jobsite visits with service techs on problem sites or new designs, obtaining feedback from Service, Sales, and customers, documenting and updating standards, and participating in product development are also key aspects of this role. The role involves customer visits with Sales, Service Sales, or independently to identify opportunities for value-added features, assessing feasibility, risk, and resource requirements, and writing proposals and project plans. Examples of services/equipment include training, consultation, component retrofits, program upgrades, graphics packages, sensor/software enhancements, system integration packages, and software upgrades. The role also involves consulting for Sales/Service Sales & Customers on best practices for AHU/BAS networking, building control strategies, and AHU control capabilities, and visiting jobsites to assist with unusual controls problems, new product start-ups, and major control configuration changes. The role will help develop the EE group and tech support group to support controls and troubleshooting, and help manage key suppliers, develop specifications, and test new products. The Service Engineering Manager will develop and propose new data center controls functions, devices, and strategies, assessing risk, benefits, and resource needs in project plans.

Requirements

  • Stationed at our Daleville, Virginia facility.
  • Report to our Director of Service Engineering.
  • Manage direct reports in our Virginia facility as well as a group in our Selma, Texas facility and a number of remote workers.
  • Roughly 50%/50% split of generating new revenue opportunities and Engineering support activities.
  • Help drive revenue growth through sales of controls parts and services, new product introduction support, and engineering excellence.
  • Training in data center design, reliability, and performance concepts.
  • Computer networking training (IP and BMS)
  • Ethernet Networking Basics Training
  • Advanced Ethernet & Emerging Technologies Training
  • Visit factories periodically for a few days; 30-60 days between visits.
  • Visit customer sites for service activities including new products, new control systems, and unusual problems.
  • Visit customer sites to help identify opportunities for controls extensions and upgrades.
  • Pre-employment drug test and background check.

Responsibilities

  • Working with and managing Senior Controls Technicians, ensuring they are trained and scheduled properly.
  • Working with other Engineering Groups to execute RFE Mechanical, Electrical, & Design Engineering needs.
  • Scheduling work as necessary to ensure successful completion of RFEs & Retrofits.
  • Scheduling work as necessary to ensure successful completion of ISTs & ADC Databases.
  • Ensuring the group is trained in all areas of Munters Data Center Equipment and continually coordinating latest practices with Production & R&D Engineering.
  • Working on New DCSI Projects as assigned.
  • Help develop strategic plans for controls development.
  • Improve data center service capability for ALC controls and control strategies for data center products.
  • Generate standard computer software list for DC products.
  • Train Service Techs & Trainers how to understand program logic for basic troubleshooting and tuning, proper methods for network setup, commissioning strategies, and how to download to each device.
  • Jobsite visits with service techs on problem sites or new designs.
  • Obtain feedback from Service, Sales, and customers on how to improve DC controls.
  • Document, Update, & Maintain Standards as laid out by Service Engineering Director.
  • Participate in product development for MVM/SyCool/Aligned DC/controls upgrades.
  • Conduct customer visits with Sales, Service Sales, or independently to identify opportunities for value added features.
  • Assess feasibility, risk, and resource requirements.
  • Write proposals and project plans.
  • Consult for Sales/Service Sales & Customers on best practices for AHU/BAS networking, building control strategies, and AHU control capabilities.
  • Visits jobsites to help with unusual controls problems, new product start-ups, major control configuration changes.
  • Help develop EE group and tech support group to support controls and troubleshooting.
  • Help manage key suppliers, develop specifications, and test new products as needed.
  • Develop and propose new data center controls functions, devices, and strategies.
  • Assess risk, benefits, resource needs in project plans.
  • Resources will be coordinated based on priority.
  • Risk/reward/resource discussions to be held with Director of Service Engineering and/or DC R&D management team as appropriate.
  • Develop a queue of identified projects on Trello. This will be used to transmit project requirements as well as tracking.
