The Service Desk Associate is responsible for greeting customers cheerfully, answering customer questions, and providing resolution by contacting management or department associates when necessary. This role may involve opening or closing the Service Desk depending on the shift, answering incoming calls, and making pages over the intercom. The associate will complete transactions such as lottery, bill pay, and Western Union, while adhering to company and legal regulations, including those for tobacco sales. Responsibilities also include performing refunds or exchanges according to company policy, communicating concerns to appropriate personnel, and maintaining a clean and organized desk area. The associate will complete necessary logs for store compliance, operate front-end scanning equipment and registers, and perform all related check-out procedures, including efficient bagging of merchandise. They will be responsible for handling all tenders, maintaining proper security measures and cash drawer accounting, and adhering to guidelines for the sale of tobacco and alcohol. Additionally, the associate must maintain knowledge of store layout, weekly ads, specials, and promotions to assist customers and generate sales through suggestive selling. Cooperation with co-workers and supervisors is essential for the smooth function of the department and store, and continuous improvement of job performance is expected. Other duties may be assigned by management.
