About The Position

This is a part-time, non-benefited position for UND students only. As a Desk Assistant, you will be the welcoming presence at the Wilkerson Service Center, assisting students, faculty, staff, and campus visitors. This role offers practical experience in customer service, campus operations, and problem-solving, contributing to the smooth functioning of campus life. Responsibilities include sorting and distributing mail, managing key and FOB issuance, disseminating information about campus events, and supporting the Housing & Residence Life Operations Manager with various duties. Some shifts may require operating a UND vehicle to transport to campus housing locations. This position is an excellent avenue for gaining professional experience, enhancing communication and organizational abilities, and becoming part of a supportive campus community.

Requirements

  • Must have a valid US driver’s license.
  • Successful completion of a Criminal History Background Check
  • Desire to be genuinely helpful and assist students, faculty, staff, and campus visitors is essential
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Dependable, professional and detail oriented
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality (FERPA)
  • Tech-savvy with a willingness to adapt to new systems
  • Provided staff shirt must be worn during shifts
  • In compliance with federal law, all persons hired will be required to verify identity and eligibility to work in the US and to complete the required employment eligibility verification form upon hire.
  • This position does not support visa sponsorship for continued employment.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of UND residence halls, apartment communities, campus offices, and resources is preferred
  • Flexible schedule: Desk Assistants are expected to work 5–20 hours per week.
  • Occasional weekend, holiday, or break work may be required
  • Preference given to students with a very flexible schedule who are willing to pick up shifts as available
  • Long-term potential: This position may continue through summer 2027 and future semesters, depending on performance, availability, and budget

Responsibilities

  • Provide customer service to students, faculty, staff, and campus visitors
  • Sort mail and packages for distribution; may include driving to various campus housing mailbox locations
  • Issue pass keys for lockouts or lost keys
  • Assist with communication of campus events and activities
  • Assist in departmental processes
