Service Center Custodian
About The Position
This position is responsible for performing general dock/warehouse cleaning and upkeep, maintaining the cleanliness of the employee break room, and ensuring the yard and apron space immediately surrounding the Service Center are kept tidy. The role involves emptying trash receptacles, maintaining safety ropes, breaking down wooden crates and delivery debris, and organizing pallets, dunnage, and trailer load bars. Additionally, the custodian will clear walkways and public access areas during winter weather, apply salt as needed, and receive and organize service center supply orders. Regular attendance is required, and employees must be able to perform all assigned duties, which may include tasks beyond this initial list due to operational, safety, or other needs. The job requires flexibility and dependability, with potential for night/weekend shifts.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or General Educational Degree (GED), or any combination of education and experience, which would provide an equivalent background
- Must be 17+ years of age
- Stable employment history
- Must be able to work and complete tasks within time constraints
- Must follow all company safety practices
- Must be able to lift approximately 70 lbs., or more if required by the essential functions of the job
- Must be able to comply with all company policies, rules, procedures and Code of Conduct
- Must be able to interact well with others
- Must be able to work independently, or in a team setting
- Must be capable of working under tight time constraints in a high volume environment with multiple priorities
- Responds well to questions; Ability to read, interpret and comply with written information and documents such as safety rules, operations / procedure manuals and maintenance instructions with a high comprehension and concentration level to include the ability to meet deadlines
- Must pass a pre-employment drug screen, random drug and/or alcohol tests, and will be subject to a criminal history background check
- Must be authorized to work in the United States
Nice To Haves
- Previous janitorial experience preferred
- Transportation experience a plus
- Night/weekend shifts may be required; must be flexible and dependable
Responsibilities
- Perform general dock/warehouse cleaning and upkeep

- Empty all dock platform and dock restroom trash receptacles
- Maintain all safety ropes at each dock door
- Break down all wooden crates and delivery debris to maximize dumpster capacity
- Collect and stack all wooden pallets
- Collect and organize all dunnage materials
- Collect and organize all trailer load bars
- Clear walkways and all public access areas during winter weather and apply salt to walkways as necessary
- Receive and organize all service center supply orders in the appropriate locations
