About The Position

To maintain a clean, healthy, and safe environment in CAA facilities. The care, cleanliness, and upkeep of each worksite are the responsibility of the Custodian, who serves as a partner in our mission through exceptional service and integrity.

Requirements

  • Ability to read, write, and follow instructions.
  • Six (6) months to one (1) year of custodial experience; knowledgeable in the use of buffers and vacuums.
  • Proven ability to work with diverse cultures.
  • Must respect always, acting as a builder of community within the workplace.
  • Must be honest, fair, and consistent.
  • Must pass O.S.B.I. background check/fingerprinting and meet all work environment standards.
  • Have no physical restrictions that would preclude the performance of assigned duties.

  • Demonstrate the physical integrity to lift 85 pounds, carry it 100 feet, and move heavy loads.
  • Must have the strength to stand/walk throughout the workday, climb ladders, stoop, kneel, and reach.
  • Custodians are expected to be leaders in safety, ensuring a "No Judgement" zone by maintaining a clean and professional space for all.

Responsibilities

  • Perform daily sweeping, dusting, dust mopping, and wet mopping.
  • Clean walls, windows, fixtures, and furniture to ensure we exceed expectations for a healthy environment.
  • Strip, wax, and buff floors; clean drinking fountains and lavatory fixtures.
  • Empty all trash at least twice daily, acting as a responsible steward of the facility.
  • Maintain lawns, trees, shrubs, and flower beds to create a welcoming curb appeal for our clients and allies.
  • Set up, rearrange, and take down furniture and equipment.
  • Act as a problem solver by listening to staff needs and providing support for Agency events.
  • Provide accountable maintenance for tools (buffers, mowers, etc.) and perform minor building repairs (lights, filters, paint touch-ups).
  • Remain adaptable and responsive to changing needs.
  • Perform other duties as required to accomplish the Agency and Head Start missions, showing a willingness to execute tasks that support the greater good.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Requires frequent travel to off-site locations.
