This position is responsible for a variety of clerical duties within the service center, including creating freight manifest lists, assisting dispatchers with driver assignments and communication, scheduling, tracking, tracing, and billing. The role involves coordinating with various internal departments and external drivers to ensure timely freight movement and adherence to service standards. Additionally, the clerk will maintain count lists, investigate and resolve freight discrepancies (overages, shortages, damages), and may be involved in preparing OS&D (Over, Short, and Damaged) freight paperwork and maintaining related records. This role also serves as a first-line resource for less experienced clerical staff, providing coaching, answering questions, and conducting on-the-job training. Other duties may include setting up and maintaining employee files, processing payroll information, and conducting new employee orientations. Regular attendance is required, and employees must be able to perform all assigned duties as operational needs dictate.
