The Service Center Clerk I is responsible for a variety of administrative and customer service tasks within a high-volume environment. Key duties include managing heavy call volumes, directing calls accurately, checking in drivers, and entering delivery manifest data into the computer system. The role also involves imaging and scanning documents, identifying freight bills with special delivery instructions, distributing bills of lading, and entering data into the dispatch system. The clerk will work with driver handhelds and coordinate freight deliveries by contacting customers and scheduling appointments. Regular attendance is required. This position demands the ability to work under close detailed instruction, solve problems within established processes, and manage multiple priorities under tight time constraints. The employee must also be able to comply with all company policies, rules, procedures, and the Code of Conduct, and interact well with others, whether working independently or in a team setting. Physical demands include sitting, using hands for computer operation, occasional standing, walking, lifting, twisting, turning, and reaching, with a minimum lifting requirement of 20 lbs. The work environment can range from quiet to loud.
