About The Position

The TECO Energy Student Program offers college students the opportunity to gain real-world experience in their field of study. Students apply classroom knowledge in a professional setting, contribute to meaningful projects, and grow their careers. The program partners with accredited four-year colleges and universities to recruit motivated students. Students will take on challenging assignments that align with their academic background and the company's business needs.

The Service Area Coordinator Intern position is designed for students seeking to build foundational skills with structured guidance. Interns will work on manageable projects under oversight, applying learned knowledge in a professional context. SAC/Supervisors/Experienced staff will provide direction and explain policies and procedures to ensure interns follow established protocols.

Requirements

• Must be enrolled in an accredited university as a college undergraduate or a graduate-level post-secondary educational program in a related discipline for the first semester the student joins the program.
• Enrollment in the university’s co-op program (proof of enrollment required); if not eligible for co-op program (or program unavailable), the student will be considered an intern.
• Responding to storms will be considered a condition of employment.

• Develop deeper knowledge of utility distribution/design and engineering processes.
• Strengthen SAP, budgeting, and financial-tracking skills.
• Improve project coordination and workflow-management capabilities.

Responsibilities

• Coordinating work and communications between fields, engineering, and administrative teams.
• Tracking work requests, outstanding items, and project status.
• Scheduling, organizing, and following up on operational activities.
• Assisting TEC Distribution Design staff as needed.
