About The Position

The TECO Energy Cooperative Education Program offers college degree-seeking students the opportunity for professional growth while meeting the business needs of the company. The program is an extension of the educational process, providing practical experience to complement formal classroom work. The intern program recruits students from colleges to give them an opportunity to work in a professional environment related to their field of study. Work assignments are consistent with the work needs of the department and the company and provide meaningful and challenging work to the student. These engineering intern positions will report to Energy Delivery engineers and support a variety of technical projects ranging in complexity, scope and time spans.

Requirements

The successful applicant should be enrolled in an accredited university as a college undergraduate or a graduate level post-secondary educational program in a related discipline.
Data Science or Data Analytics
Enrollment in the university’s co-op program (proof of enrollment required); if not eligible for co-op program (or program unavailable), the student will be considered an intern.
A minimum GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale is required.

Responsibilities

Support the Drone & Diagnostics Center's Data Science team in developing and improving machine learning models for utility asset inspections.
Assist in developing dashboards, data visualizations, and analytical tools that communicate insights to business stakeholders.
Assist with the labeling and organization of drone imagery and other data sets that can used for model training.
Help the Drone & Diagnostic Center review and implement AI into existing processes, help automate data processing, and create predictive analytics for internal stakeholders.
