About The Position

Fairview is seeking a Service and Product Assistant to join their team at the University of Minnesota East Bank location in Minneapolis. This position is approved for 80 hours every two weeks and is expected to follow a schedule of Tuesday through Saturday, 10:00 p.m. to 6:30 a.m. This overnight role requires the ability to work every weekend. The position is part of the AFSCME union and is benefits eligible, offering a competitive total rewards package. This role involves receiving, delivering, replenishing, cleaning, and maintaining equipment, supplies, linen, and forms, as well as assisting with inventory control.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma/G.E.D.
  • 6 months comparable materials or related experience and/or extensive knowledge of medical hardware/software and medical supplies through formal education channels.
  • Independent use of computers including data entry.
  • Proficient English speaking skills.
  • Ability to work every weekend.

Responsibilities

  • Maintains adequate inventory levels of equipment, linen, and supplies.
  • Understands inventory control concepts.
  • Calculates par levels and recommends adjustments.
  • Differentiates between supply usage whether routine, special cause, patient volume change or cyclical change.
  • Alerts Inventory Specialist to variances, stock-outs, defects, etc.
  • Accounts excess inventory, documents and properly routes.
  • Routinely performs cycle counts to identify inventory adjustments and expired product.
  • Removes recalled, changed or expired products as instructed.
  • Coordinates shipment, delivery and stocking of supplies for all locations.
  • Operates computer for supply and equipment requests as well as equipment tracking, productivity reporting, etc.
  • Maintains medical equipment.
  • Identifies medical products and equipment by proper name, purpose and potential connection to other medical products.
  • Reviews Operating Room surgery schedule and selects appropriate medical supplies and surgical instruments for Case Care set-up.
  • Assures appropriate rotation of medical equipment to maximize utilization and meet patient care area needs.
  • Performs gross decontamination of instruments and accessories; cleans, rinses and properly routes.
  • Decontaminates and cleans patient care equipment.
  • Responds to customer requests for supplies and demonstrates effective communication.
  • Provides courteous and timely responses to customer inquiries.
  • Effectively differentiates supply/equipment request types as stat/emergency (life threatening) and routine.
  • Speaks English proficiently.
  • Clearly articulates conversation by phone, E-mail and in-person.
  • Confirms nature of requests to ensure accuracy.
