About The Position

Under the direction of the Equipment Manager, the Service Advisor is responsible for playing a key role in supporting the repair and maintenance of mining and support equipment, such as fleet vehicles. The incumbent will ensure that maintenance and repair services are delivered on time, within budget, in accordance with safety and quality standards and act as the liaison between the internal and external stakeholders and the service team. The Service Advisor will conduct all activities in a manner that supports the mission, vision and values of the Fort McKay Group of Companies LP. This is a safety-sensitive position that requires completion of pre-employment/pre-access testing.

Requirements

  • Completion of a High School Diploma, or a GED equivalent is required.
  • A valid Class 5 License (or equivalent) is required, along with a satisfactory 3-year Drivers Abstract.
  • Proficiency in service management software, CRM systems, and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word).
  • 1-2 years of previous experience in a Service Advisor, Technician or internal service support role within the mining, construction or heavy equipment industry.
  • Strong understanding of mining equipment systems (e.g., loaders, excavators, haul trucks, crushers) repairs and their maintenance needs, and automotive fleet maintenance.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and provide solutions for equipment issues, with a strong attention to detail.
  • Strong organizational skills to manage multiple service requests, schedules, and parts inventory.
  • Knowledge of safety protocols and regulations in a mining or heavy machinery environment.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, including good oral, written communication, and listening skills.
  • Strong attention to detail with a high level of accuracy.
  • Ability to work independently and multitask, as well as work effectively in a team environment.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for internal stakeholders regarding service requests, inquiries, and concerns about mining equipment maintenance or repairs.
  • Communicate effectively with service personnel, to understand their needs, provide technical advice, and ensure satisfaction with service outcomes.
  • Provide accurate updates to appropriate stakeholders on the status of repairs, parts availability, and estimated time of completion.
  • Schedule and coordinate service appointments for preventive maintenance, repairs, and inspections.
  • Work closely with technicians, parts suppliers, and the service team to ensure timely execution of maintenance and repair activities.
  • Ensure all required parts, tools, and resources are available for planned maintenance or repairs.
  • Collaborate with technical teams to determine the scope of work required for repairs and maintenance, ensuring that repairs align with manufacturer specifications.
  • Work closely with the Procurement Team to coordinate the ordering and delivery of replacement parts required for maintenance or repairs.
  • Maintain accurate records of parts usage, inventory levels, and supplier orders to ensure availability of necessary parts without overstocking.
  • Provide advice on the best options for parts replacement, upgrades, or repairs based on equipment age, usage, and operational needs.
  • Ensure all service and maintenance activities adhere to safety protocols, industry regulations, and company policies.
  • Promote a culture of safety, ensuring technicians and maintenance team follow all relevant health, safety, and environmental standards during equipment repairs.
  • Report any safety hazards or non-compliance issues promptly to management.
  • Identify opportunities for improving service processes, internal stakeholder satisfaction, and overall service efficiency.
  • Stay updated on new mining equipment/fleet technologies, industry best practices, and service techniques.
  • Participate in training programs to enhance knowledge and skills related to mining equipment and maintenance processes.
