About The Position

The Server provides prompt, efficient, and courteous service to guests. Duties include greeting and seating guests, taking and serving orders, handling guest payments as required, clearing dishes, and resetting tables. The role requires following IHOP service procedures and maintaining a high-quality guest experience while observing food-service, sanitation, safety, uniform, and appearance standards. Servers also stock supplies, complete assigned cleaning tasks, and may perform other duties as assigned by a manager or supervisor.

Requirements

• Prior experience or training is desired but may not be required.
• Ability to read and understand instructions, correspondence, and memos, and write simple correspondence.
• Ability to read and speak English well enough to understand guest checks, read instructions, and communicate with guests.
• Ability to perform basic arithmetic using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
• Ability to follow written, oral, and diagram-based instructions and address problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
• Complete IHOP training coursework as assigned.
• Ability to meet the physical demands of the role, with reasonable accommodation where applicable.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain professional working relationships with IHOP employees and guests.
• Follow IHOP Service Guidelines and standard operating procedures to provide a high-quality guest experience.
• Handle guest complaints professionally and promptly, thank guests, and invite them to return.
• Learn and use IHOP terminology, abbreviations, methods, plating standards, and menu information.
• Follow procedures for guest checks and server banking.
• Stock and rotate supplies in assigned service areas and the dining room.
• Follow local and IHOP health, sanitation, and safety guidelines.
• Clear, clean, and reset tables; clean chairs, booths, and floors after guests leave.
• Complete cleaning duties according to posted cleaning charts.
• Follow IHOP uniform and appearance standards.
• Perform other assignments as directed by the General Manager, Assistant Manager, or acting supervisor.
• Comply with the IHOP N Go program as assigned.
• Greet and seat guests, take and serve orders, and collect guest payments as required.
