Server | Part Time
About The Position
The Server courteously serves meals to residents and guests and cleans and resets the dining room following meal service. The role includes assisting residents with menu orders and tray service, providing beverages, and maintaining dining and kitchen areas. The Server is attentive to residents’ special needs, including mobility deficits and memory impairment, follows confidentiality policies, and interacts politely and considerately with residents, guests, coworkers, and supervisors. The position also involves attending required in-services and staff meetings and completing other assigned duties.
Requirements
- Be able to read and follow simple instructions.
- Be able to perform simple, repetitive tasks.
- Be able to learn quickly and apply learned principles.
- Be able to communicate effectively and work under close supervision.
- Be able to bend, reach, grasp, push, and pull objects.
- Be able to stand and walk for sustained periods of up to three hours at a time.
- Be able to lift 50 pounds regularly and carry heavy objects for 20 feet.
- Be organized and willing to work well with other team members.
- Be willing to work a flexible schedule that includes evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Responsibilities
- Assist residents when placing orders from the menu.
- Provide beverage service, including water, iced tea, juices, milk, and coffee or tea.
- Refill salt, pepper, and sugar bowls before and after each meal.
- Report broken equipment or tableware to a supervisor.
- Use sit-down service and proper serving techniques.
- Assist with basic food preparation, such as salads and desserts.
- Follow proper food storage and labeling techniques.
- Sweep, mop, and vacuum the kitchen and dining room.
- Attend required in-services and staff meetings.
- Complete other assigned duties.
- Attend to residents’ special needs, including mobility deficits and memory impairment.
- Assist with tray service.
- Follow confidentiality policies regarding the release of resident information.
- Interact politely and considerately with residents, guests, coworkers, and supervisors.
- Wear the designated clean uniform during working hours and maintain good personal hygiene.
