About The Position

The Server interacts with restaurant guests, fellow employees, and supervisors in a polite, courteous, and hospitable manner to ensure an exemplary dining experience. The role involves taking orders, making enticing suggestions, providing complete food, wine, and beverage service, and monitoring guests' dining experience. This position works in a restaurant setting and has no supervisory responsibilities. The work environment may be loud and may expose employees to hazards such as cuts, slips, trips, falls, and burns. Frequent hand washing is required. Work hours and days vary according to business needs and may include weekends, holidays, evenings, and overnight shifts.

Requirements

At least 2 years of restaurant experience.
At least 1 year of experience in a hotel environment.
Culinary school diploma or a degree in food service management or a related field.
Ability to work independently and exercise good judgment to resolve issues.
Guest-oriented and service-minded.
Flexible schedule and ability to work weekends and holidays.
Excellent written and oral communication skills.

Responsibilities

Present menus, answer questions, and make suggestions regarding food and beverages.
Follow state requirements for responsible alcohol service and sell food and alcohol items.
Use a computer to enter orders on guest checks.
Interact with guests in a friendly and timely manner.
Accept different types of payment and make change.
Complete assigned side work and maintain the cleanliness and smooth operation of the restaurant.
Clear and reset tables.
Check guest identification to confirm legal drinking age and politely refuse alcohol service to underage guests.
Monitor the behavior and number of drinks served to guests consuming alcohol; offer a taxi when appropriate and ask a manager to intervene when needed.
Treat guests in a manner that ensures their satisfaction and strive to exceed their expectations.
Report to work in a neat, clean uniform and maintain well-groomed hair and personal hygiene.
Pass the Responsible Service of Alcohol Test with a score of at least 90%.
Perform other duties assigned by the manager.
