About The Position
Grand Canyon University is seeking a server to support the university’s mission through its golf course. The position creates a welcoming environment for customers in the bar by providing food and beverage service. The role requires shift work, including weekends and public holidays, and may require extended hours as needed. Applicants must meet GCU’s student-employment eligibility requirements: be enrolled as a full-time student in a bachelor’s or master’s program, maintain a GPA of at least 2.0 as a bachelor’s student or 3.0 as a master’s student, and remain in good financial and academic (SAP) standing. Falling below the minimum requirements may result in termination.
Requirements
- Demonstrated excellent customer service skills.
- Working knowledge of health, safety, and sanitation regulations, with current Maricopa County certification.
- Working knowledge of responsible alcohol service standards and current certification.
- Knowledge of mixology and ability to prepare cocktails promptly while meeting service protocols.
- Self-motivation and initiative to start and complete tasks.
- Good communication skills and a good command of English.
- Valid driver's license and clean driving record.
- Must be enrolled at GCU as a full-time student in a bachelor's or master's program.
- Must maintain a GPA of at least 2.0 as a bachelor's student or 3.0 as a master's student.
- Must maintain good financial and academic (SAP) standing with the university.
Nice To Haves
- Conversational Spanish would be beneficial.
Responsibilities
- Interact with customers, take orders, and serve food and drinks.
- Restock and replenish inventory and supplies.
- Provide exceptional customer service across information, greeting, food service, bar service, and retail service, and promote a positive perception of the company internally and externally.
- Work shifts, weekends, and public holidays while maintaining punctuality and attendance.
- Follow employee conduct, food and beverage regulations, uniform, and personal hygiene requirements.
- Report incidents involving complaints, accidents, fire, loss, or damage.
