About The Position

The Moses Lake School District is seeking applications for a Server Helper for the Summer Program. This role will assist with all aspects of meal preparation, including food preparation, cooking, assembly, service, and clean-up of meals in accordance with MLSD Food Service policies and procedures and in compliance with regulations concerning meal pattern requirements. The position also involves ordering and receiving food deliveries, supervising student workers, following sanitation and safety procedures, and maintaining a safe work environment.

Requirements

  • Valid Washington State Department of Health Food Handler’s Card.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform basic math calculations.
  • Ability to communicate in English effectively, both verbally and in writing.
  • Demonstrated punctuality and ability to maintain excellent record of attendance.

Nice To Haves

  • Demonstrated ability to operate and maintain industrial kitchen equipment.
  • Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds without assistance.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate with district staff, students, parents and the general public using tact, courtesy, and good judgment.
  • Bilingual preferred.
  • Order products and supplies according to attendance and production requirements (written skills test required).
  • Knowledge and understanding of all S.P.I. requirements for food services.
  • Demonstrated ability to change menus based upon proportioned quantities.
  • Ability to complete production records and maintain accurate meal counts.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective, cooperative, and positive working relationships with fellow food service staff and other district personnel.
  • Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the board may find acceptable.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with all aspects of meal preparation including food preparation, cooking, assembly, service, and clean-up of meals in accordance with MLSD Food Service policies and procedures and in compliance with regulations concerning meal pattern requirements.
  • Order and receive food deliveries from base kitchen and central warehouse as needed.
  • Supervise and instruct student workers assisting with the meal period.
  • Follow proper sanitation, safety, and temperature control procedures in accordance with Washington State Health Department standards.
  • Maintain a safe work environment and report all problems to appropriate personnel in a timely manner.
  • Exhibit excellent attendance and punctuality.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by the Food Services Director.
