Senior Workplace Platforms Lead - IT and Business Systems
About The Position
1X is building humanoid robots designed to perform household chores and tasks, aiming to give people back their time. This involves solving complex challenges in robotics, AI, and manufacturing simultaneously and at scale, with a focus on safety for home environments. The company has been developing these robots since 2014 and is now focused on shipping its flagship product, NEO. 1X is experiencing growth and is seeking individuals inspired by the mission to change how humans spend their time by creating abundance safely. The IT & Business Systems team is responsible for building and operating the internal platforms that support 1X's global scaling across engineering, manufacturing, operations, and corporate functions. This team focuses on creating secure, reliable, and high-signal workplace systems to reduce operational friction, automate workflows, and support efficient execution. As 1X expands, this team is crucial in establishing the operational backbone that ensures seamless and secure integration of employees, robots, infrastructure, and business systems.
Requirements
- 8+ years of experience in IT systems, workplace platforms, technical operations, or business systems engineering.
- Hands-on experience administering and scaling enterprise collaboration and productivity platforms.
- Experience with workflow automation, scripting, CI/CD integrations, or platform tooling.
- Strong understanding of access governance, security best practices, and operational compliance.
- Ability to operate independently and thrive in ambiguous, fast-paced startup environments.
- Strong expertise managing and scaling workplace platforms such as Slack, Jira, Confluence, Notion, GitHub, and related enterprise systems.
- Deep understanding of information architecture, operational governance, RBAC, IAM, and workflow automation.
- Proven experience building scalable operational processes in fast-moving, high-growth environments.
- Strong systems thinking with the ability to simplify complex organizational and technical challenges.
- Excellent cross-functional communication skills with the ability to align technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Nice To Haves
- Experience supporting hardware, robotics, manufacturing, or operational technology environments.
- Familiarity with APIs, automation tooling, and systems integration platforms.
- Experience with cloud infrastructure environments such as AWS, Azure, or GCP.
- Exposure to compliance frameworks such as SOC2, ISO 27001, or GDPR.
- Experience scaling workplace systems in companies growing from startup to enterprise scale.
Responsibilities
- Own the architecture, governance, and operational excellence of 1X’s workplace platforms and business systems ecosystem.
- Design scalable workflows, improve system interoperability, strengthen access governance, and enable operational efficiency across a rapidly growing robotics organization.
- Design and scale workplace platform infrastructure supporting rapid organizational growth across engineering, manufacturing, and operations teams.
- Improve operational efficiency by automating workflows, reducing manual processes, and increasing system reliability across business-critical platforms.
- Establish scalable governance, RBAC, and access management standards across workplace and collaboration systems.
- Create high-signal reporting and operational dashboards that improve visibility, prioritization, and decision-making for technical and business leadership.
- Partner cross-functionally with Security, IT, Engineering, and Operations teams to ensure platform scalability, compliance, and operational readiness.
