About The Position

Lambda is hiring a hands-on Senior Workday Integration Architect to own the design, implementation, and operation of the integrations connecting Workday with the company’s internal and external systems. The role will lead integration architecture and delivery during Lambda’s move from Rippling to Workday, then oversee the integration landscape through go-live and steady-state operations. It will establish integration patterns, standards, security practices, monitoring, and reusable components, while serving as a technical partner to People, Finance, Payroll, IT, Security, and Engineering. The architect will lead Workday implementation integration work, Rippling data conversion, inbound and outbound integrations, payroll and finance integrations, identity provisioning, reporting feeds, and operational reliability. The role also owns integration controls and audit readiness, release impact assessment, documentation, and mentorship. This position requires presence in Lambda’s San Francisco or San Jose office four days per week; Tuesday is currently the designated work-from-home day. Lambda describes itself as an AI cloud infrastructure company founded in 2012, with more than 500 employees. It offers cash and equity compensation, health, dental, and vision coverage, wellness and commuter stipends for select roles, a 401(k) plan with a 2% company match for U.S. employees, and flexible paid time off.

Requirements

  • At least 10 years of experience in HRIS, enterprise integration, or systems architecture.
  • At least 6 years of experience designing and building Workday integrations.
  • Experience taking at least one full Workday HCM implementation live as the integration lead or architect, including payroll and benefits integrations.
  • Expertise in EIB, Core Connectors, Workday Studio, Workday Web Services (SOAP and REST), RaaS and custom reports, calculated fields, XSLT/XPath, and integration security, including ISUs, ISSGs, and OAuth/API clients.
  • Hands-on experience with an iPaaS or middleware platform and understanding of when to use it versus native Workday tools.
  • Experience building or supporting payroll, benefits-carrier, 401(k), and tax-filing integrations, with understanding of associated data, timing, and reconciliation challenges.
  • Strong SQL and data-modeling skills and familiarity with JSON, XML, CSV, SFTP, APIs, and webhooks.
  • Experience in a SOX or audit-facing environment and understanding of change control, access reviews, and audit evidence for sensitive integrations.
  • Thorough testing, documentation, validation, and operational practices, including designing integrations to handle failures.
  • Ability to work across People, Finance, Payroll, IT, Security, and Engineering, explaining technical and data issues to different audiences.
  • Comfort with ambiguity and changing requirements in a fast-growing pre-IPO company.
  • Enthusiastic, proactive approach to investigating data discrepancies and finding root causes.

Nice To Haves

  • Workday Pro certifications in Integrations, Studio, Payroll, or HCM.
  • Experience migrating from Rippling or another all-in-one HR/payroll platform to Workday.
  • Experience with PECI/PICOF or Global Payroll Connect integrations for multi-country payroll.
  • Experience with international payroll providers such as ADP Celergo, CloudPay, Papaya Global, or Deel, and employer-of-record arrangements.
  • Familiarity with NetSuite, Okta, Lumos, Workato, and BigQuery.
  • IPO-readiness experience, including integration control design and equity compensation data flows.
  • Experience using AI tools to accelerate integration testing, documentation, mapping, or reconciliation.
  • Familiarity with Workday Orchestrate, Prism Analytics, or Extend.

Responsibilities

  • Define and own Workday’s target-state integration architecture, including patterns, standards, naming conventions, error handling, monitoring, reusable components, and documentation of tooling decisions.
  • Lead integration design and delivery during the Workday implementation; build and test integrations with the implementation partner, review deliverables, and approve readiness for cutover, parallel testing, and hypercare.
  • Design and execute extraction, transformation, and loading of Rippling data into Workday, including historical data, cutover sequencing, validation, and decommissioning Rippling-based integrations.
  • Build and maintain inbound integrations for recruiting and offer data, organizational and cost-center data, equity and compensation data, and other upstream systems.
  • Build and maintain outbound integrations for benefits carriers, 401(k), tax filing, international and global payroll, equity administration, and downstream systems including Okta, Lumos, and BigQuery.
  • Own payroll results, accounting journal, and general-ledger posting integrations to NetSuite, and partner with Payroll Operations and Accounting on reconciliation.
  • Partner with IT on Workday-to-Okta joiner, mover, and leaver processes, Lumos access provisioning, and security-group and integration-account design.
  • Design Workday data extracts and RaaS reports for BigQuery and the analytics platform, and define data contracts for People Analytics and Finance.
  • Establish integration monitoring, alerting, retry logic, runbooks, and on-call practices; lead root-cause analysis of failed files, rejected records, and data discrepancies.
  • Design integration security and controls for SOX ITGC requirements, including least-privilege access, credential and certificate management, change management, segregation of duties, audit trails, and evidence capture; support audits.
  • Assess the impact of Workday’s semi-annual releases, run regression testing, and adopt capabilities that reduce custom development and manual work.
  • Create documentation, integration inventories, and data dictionaries; mentor analysts and consultants and establish standards for code review, testing, and design quality.

  • Health, dental, and vision coverage for employees and dependents.
  • Wellness and commuter stipends for select roles.
  • 401(k) plan with a 2% company match for U.S. employees.
  • Flexible paid time off plan.
