Senior Web Engineer

Polymarket•New York, NY
•$230,000 - $330,000

About The Position

Polymarket is seeking a Senior Web Engineer to own complex frontend features, improve reliability, and help the team ship faster with confidence. The role owns major web surfaces end-to-end, from scoping and implementation through launch, monitoring, and production support. It sits at the intersection of frontend product development, backend systems, performance, and reliability, and requires experience in crypto and the ability to ship complicated React/Next.js features, debug ambiguous production issues, and work across teams independently. The engineer will build and launch features across Polymarket's core product surfaces, collaborate with backend engineers and cross-functional partners, and take responsibility for reliability and incident response within their domain. They will improve frontend observability, help evolve frontend architecture as the product scales, and connect technical work to measurable outcomes such as performance, reliability, product quality, and conversion.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of frontend web engineering experience, including experience in crypto, Web3, or adjacent financial infrastructure.
  • Strong hands-on experience with React, Next.js, TypeScript, and modern frontend development.
  • Strong frontend system design instincts across state management, data fetching, caching, performance, reliability, and maintainability.
  • Experience owning complex features from scoping through launch.
  • Strong debugging skills and experience responding to production issues.
  • Comfort working with backend engineers on APIs, data contracts, failure modes, and system behavior.
  • High agency, including noticing problems, proposing solutions, and driving work to completion.
  • Product-minded approach and care for user experience.
  • Ability to operate independently in a fast-moving, ambiguous environment.
  • Clear communication during planning, launches, bugs, and incidents.

Nice To Haves

  • Frontend performance specialization.
  • Experience with high-traffic, real-time, marketplace, trading, or financial products.
  • Experience building for WebViews or shared web/mobile surfaces.
  • Experience improving frontend observability, alerting, or reliability practices.
  • Strong practical use of AI tools to improve engineering productivity.

Responsibilities

  • Own and ship complex web features end-to-end, balancing speed, quality, architecture, and long-term maintainability.
  • Collaborate with backend engineers to design APIs, reason through data flows, and build reliable user experiences on complex systems.
  • Partner with QA, TPM, product, and design to clarify requirements, manage launches, and improve product quality.
  • Monitor dashboards, alerts, and user reports to identify and respond to issues quickly.
  • Work with backend and infrastructure teams during incidents to isolate root causes, ship mitigations, and follow through with fixes and prevention work.
  • Build and improve frontend logs, metrics, alerts, dashboards, and error reporting.
  • Identify meaningful technical debt, propose pragmatic refactors, and contribute to system design discussions that evolve frontend architecture.
  • Lead by example through strong code reviews, clear communication, and high-quality execution.
  • Connect technical work to measurable performance, reliability, product quality, and conversion outcomes.
  • Break down ambiguous product requirements into shippable engineering work.

Benefits

  • Competitive salary and equity.
  • Unlimited PTO.
  • Full health, vision, and dental coverage.
  • 401k match.
  • Hardware setup including a new MacBook Pro, big display, and accessories.
