About The Position

NerdWallet is hiring a Senior Web Engineer for its CKD Clients Engineering team. The team builds SEO-optimized customer experiences and tools using Next.js, React.js, Astro.js, and WordPress, helping content and marketing teams launch high-traffic consumer pages. The role focuses on front-end engineering, UI/UX, accessibility, and web performance, with full-stack responsibilities including back-end APIs and integration with machine learning systems that support personalization and data-driven experiences. The engineer will improve Core Web Vitals, technical SEO, observability, and platform scalability, while collaborating with stakeholders to shape organic shopping products. The role involves hands-on production-quality coding, contributing to technical and architectural initiatives, mentoring team members, and balancing performance and scalability with long-term maintainability. The position reports to the Senior Manager, Engineering and is remote within the U.S.

Requirements

At least 5 years of software engineering experience, with a strong background in client-focused full-stack development.
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
Expertise in ES6, TypeScript, Node.js, and the web platform.
Proficiency in modern programming languages such as Rust, Go, or Python.
Expertise in modern front-end frameworks and tools such as Astro.js, Nuxt.js, Next.js, React.js, and Tailwind.
Deep knowledge of web performance, Core Web Vitals, and technical SEO.
Passion for design, usability, and user experience, with understanding of accessibility best practices.
Experience with observability and operating a production website or application at scale.
Experience with database systems, microservices architecture, RESTful APIs, infrastructure as code, CI/CD, and cloud infrastructure such as Vercel, AWS, GCP, or Azure.

Responsibilities

Improve performance, technical SEO, and user engagement on NerdWallet’s high-traffic organic pages.
Partner with product, Organic Growth, and data teams to run experiments, measure impact, and iterate.
Work with engineering leadership on initiatives that improve performance, observability, scalability, security, and developer experience.
Support platform stability and resilience through monitoring, troubleshooting, and incident management.
Maintain a high-quality codebase and modernize the technology stack.
Mentor and provide technical guidance to engineering team members on coding, testing, and architecture best practices.
Conduct code reviews to ensure code quality, performance, and adherence to standards.
Keep current with technology and finance industry trends through continuous learning.
Build and optimize front-end experiences and contribute to back-end APIs and machine learning integrations.
