About The Position

Basecamp Resorts Ltd. is seeking a Senior Web Development Manager / Lead Full Stack Developer to oversee the technical architecture, development, performance, and evolution of their digital experience platform, which supports over 10 websites across hospitality, investment, and real estate brands. This is a hands-on technical role that combines full-stack development, platform architecture, technical leadership, and digital experience expertise, with a focus on improving user experience and delivering intuitive, mobile-first digital experiences. The role involves collaborating with creative agencies, vendors, Marketing, IT, and internal stakeholders to translate designs and requirements into scalable, high-performing websites. A key aspect of this role is establishing the technical foundation for Basecamp's digital ecosystem, including shared architecture, design systems, reusable components, and deployment practices. The goal is to create a sustainable platform that empowers marketing and other teams to publish content and build pages efficiently, reducing development effort and simplifying website management. The role will also establish standards and reusable solutions to support organizational growth.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of progressive experience in full-stack web development, website development, digital platform development, or related roles, ideally within a complex multi-site or multi-brand environment.
  • Proven ability to design, develop, and administer CMS-driven digital platforms. Familiarity with WordPress, Drupal, Sitecore, Adobe Experience Manager, Contentful, Strapi, headless CMS platforms, or similar technologies is preferred.
  • Demonstrated success developing and governing design systems, reusable component libraries, templates, and development standards across multiple websites or brands.
  • Strong background working with creative agencies and translating UX/UI designs and business requirements into scalable technical solutions.
  • Track record of leading developers, managing technical projects, and coordinating external agencies or technology vendors.
  • Skilled in architecting solutions that enable non-technical teams to efficiently publish content and create pages.
  • Hands-on expertise implementing integrations between websites and business platforms using APIs, databases, webhooks, and other integration technologies.
  • Familiarity with hospitality platforms, hotel booking engines, PMS, CRM, loyalty platforms, spa booking systems, dining reservation systems, or e-commerce solutions is considered an asset.
  • Strong understanding of modern web development frameworks, content management systems, digital experience platforms, and emerging technologies.
  • Working knowledge of the software development lifecycle (SDLC), Agile methodologies, release management, and deployment practices.
  • Solid understanding of web application architecture, solution design, and scalable digital platform development.
  • Proficiency in relational database concepts, data modelling, APIs, authentication, and data integration patterns.
  • Strong understanding of web accessibility standards (WCAG), responsive design, user experience, and digital content governance.
  • Technical knowledge of website hosting, cloud environments, DNS, SSL, CDN technologies, caching, monitoring, backup, and disaster recovery practices.
  • Strong understanding of website security principles, OWASP Top 10, secure development practices, and operational security controls.
  • Familiarity with technical SEO, structured data, website discoverability, and AI-powered search optimization.
  • Demonstrated capability in project planning, vendor management, stakeholder engagement, roadmap development, and status reporting.
  • Ability to translate complex technical concepts for non-technical stakeholders and provide clear, actionable recommendations.
  • Experience with AI-assisted development tools and applying AI to development, testing, automation, content workflows, or digital experiences.

Responsibilities

  • Own the architecture, technical standards, and ongoing evolution of Basecamp's digital experience platform across all brands and websites.
  • Build and maintain WordPress and Elementor websites from approved wireframes, creative concepts, designs, and business requirements.
  • Develop and govern a scalable design system and library of reusable components, templates, modules, and development patterns that support consistency and efficient future website launches.
  • Extend design system standards, reusable components, and user experience patterns beyond websites where appropriate, including booking engines, email templates, CRM journeys, marketing automation, guest communications, and other guest-facing digital experiences.
  • Create CMS structures and publishing standards that enable Marketing and content teams to efficiently create pages, manage content, and launch new digital experiences.
  • Establish and maintain content governance, publishing workflows, approval processes, and content quality standards across all websites and brands.
  • Establish standards for UI/UX implementation, responsive design, accessibility (WCAG), forms, content, third-party components, scripts, and integrations.
  • Evaluate CMS, headless, composable, and emerging web technologies and recommend architecture and platform improvements as the organization grows.
  • Create a scalable technical foundation that enables future properties, brands, and websites to launch efficiently using reusable architecture, templates, and components.
  • Develop and maintain high-quality front-end and backend functionality using PHP, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, MySQL, and other appropriate technologies.
  • Develop custom WordPress functionality, including themes, plugins, modules, templates, and reusable components.
  • Build, administer, and optimize web forms, including validation, lead capture, data governance, bot protection, and integrations with third-party platforms.
  • Build and maintain APIs and data integrations connecting websites with booking engines, CRM platforms, analytics, lead-generation tools, payment systems, and other business technologies.
  • Configure and troubleshoot MySQL databases, APIs, JSON, webhooks, and data flows between websites and third-party systems.
  • Ensure third-party components, scripts, forms, and integrations meet established design, accessibility, security, privacy, and performance standards.
  • Write clean, maintainable, well-documented code and establish standardized version control, QA, testing, and deployment practices.
  • Manage website architecture and technical infrastructure, including hosting, DNS, SSL certificates, CDN and caching, development and staging environments, monitoring, backups, and platform administration.
  • Establish and maintain Core Web Vitals standards, optimizing page speed, mobile usability, front-end code, scripts, caching, and overall site performance.
  • Manage and optimize digital assets, ensuring images and videos are appropriately formatted, sized, compressed, and delivered for web performance.
  • Establish standards and governance for photography, video, branding assets, file formats, storage, and web delivery practices.
  • Ensure technical SEO and AEO best practices are embedded across websites, including structured data, schema markup, canonical URLs, sitemaps, crawlability, metadata, and optimization for AI-powered search.
  • Implement and maintain WordPress security best practices, including platform hardening, plugin governance, SSL/TLS, access controls, MFA, bot protection, patching, backups, monitoring, and vulnerability management.
  • Maintain appropriate monitoring, disaster recovery, rollback, and incident response processes to support website reliability and business continuity.
  • Partner with IT, hosting providers, and external security specialists as required, including coordinating periodic vulnerability assessments and penetration testing.
  • Lead and mentor at least one direct report, the Web Designer & Developer, setting priorities, reviewing work, and supporting professional development.
  • Lead website project planning, defining technical requirements, architecture, priorities, timelines, dependencies, testing, and implementation.
  • Own the website and digital experience roadmap, aligning initiatives with business, marketing, operational, and guest experience objectives.
  • Track and communicate progress, risks, dependencies, milestones, and upcoming activities, providing regular status updates and roadmap reporting to leadership and stakeholders.
  • Work closely with creative agencies, Marketing, IT, Revenue Management, Operations, Capital, and other stakeholders to translate business and creative requirements into effective technical solutions.
  • Manage external developers, agencies, freelancers, and technology vendors, establishing clear technical requirements, standards, scopes, timelines, and deliverables.
  • Establish and enforce code quality standards, QA processes, release management practices, and platform governance across all websites.
  • Lead technical troubleshooting, root-cause analysis, and incident response for revenue-generating websites.
  • Maintain technical documentation covering architecture, integrations, components, forms, development standards, processes, and platform dependencies.
  • Own and optimize digital booking and lead-generation UX and journeys across hotel, spa, and investment websites, with a focus on mobile first design and conversion.
  • Use A/B testing, booking behavior, heatmaps, session data, and analytics to identify friction and prioritize UX and technical improvements.
  • Ensure accurate and standardized GA4, Google Tag Manager, and conversion tracking across all brands and properties.
  • Monitor and report on conversion, booking funnel performance, Core Web Vitals, site health, technical risks, and optimization opportunities.
  • Evaluate emerging technologies, including AI-assisted development, AI-powered search, automation, and digital experience technologies, identifying opportunities to improve development efficiency and customer experience.
