About The Position

Teleport is the AI Infrastructure Identity Company, providing a unified identity layer for infrastructure (humans, machines, workloads, and AI agents) secured cryptographically. As the company expands its product portfolio, they are seeking a Web Design Engineer to own the design and frontend development of Teleport's product marketing microsites. The initial project will be beams.run, the marketing microsite for their new trusted agent runtime product, with the role extending to future product sites as Teleport grows. This is a high-impact, individual contributor role for someone who can fluidly work across design and engineering, with a strong understanding of developer audiences. The successful candidate will synthesize input from Marketing and Product stakeholders into developer-facing web experiences that are technically credible and visually compelling. They will own the design direction, frontend codebase, and ongoing iteration of each site. This role is ideal for individuals with experience building developer-facing web properties and who understand how infrastructure and platform engineers evaluate tools, focusing on documentation, CLI examples, and technical substance. Experience with products in the security, identity, or DevOps space is a strong plus.

Requirements

  • Design and code as one practice. 10+ years of professional experience where you personally designed and built production frontend for web properties. We are not looking for a designer who hands off to developers, or a developer who implements someone else's designs. You must do both, and your portfolio must demonstrate both.
  • You produce high-fidelity design work in Figma (or equivalent) that is ready for stakeholder review and does not require a separate designer to refine.
  • You write production-quality code in React (Next.js preferred), TypeScript, and modern CSS (Tailwind or similar). Your code is clean enough that other engineers can review, maintain, and contribute to it.
  • Your portfolio includes work on developer-facing or technical product websites. Examples: developer platforms, API documentation sites, CLI tool sites, open-source project sites, or infrastructure product marketing pages. Consumer or e-commerce web experience alone does not qualify.
  • You have demonstrated experience taking input from both Marketing and Product stakeholders, navigating competing priorities, and translating that input into design and development decisions. You will not have a single manager handing you specs; you will need to synthesize direction from multiple teams.
  • You produce clear design rationale, technical documentation, and project updates in written form. At Teleport, we write things down. This is not optional.
  • You identify what a site needs, propose solutions, and execute without waiting for detailed specifications. You are comfortable being the only person responsible for a site's design and code.
  • You actively use AI tools to accelerate your design and development work. This means more than casual use of chatbots. You have hands-on experience integrating AI into your production workflow, for example using Figma MCP with Claude Code to go from design to code, using AI coding assistants to scaffold and iterate on frontend components, or using AI to generate and refine visual assets. At Teleport, we are laser focused on using AI to ship faster, and we expect this role to operate the same way.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with motion design and interaction animation (Lottie, Framer Motion, GSAP, CSS animations) that enhances usability and storytelling
  • Familiarity with infrastructure, security, or DevOps tooling. Ideally you've worked with container orchestration, SSH, IAM policies, or similar
  • Contributions to open-source projects, either design or code
  • Experience building for products in beta or pre-GA, where the site must build credibility and anticipation without overpromising
  • Understanding of developer experience (DX) principles and how engineers discover, evaluate, and adopt technical products

Responsibilities

  • Own the full lifecycle of Teleport product marketing microsites: information architecture, visual design, interaction design, frontend development, and deployment
  • Translate complex technical concepts into clear, compelling pages that resonate with infrastructure and platform engineers
  • Establish and maintain visual language for product brands within the Teleport family, including typography, color, motion, and component patterns
  • Write production-quality frontend code in a modern stack that other engineers can review and contribute to
  • Collaborate with Product teams to ensure technical accuracy of site content, code examples, and CLI references
  • Partner with Marketing to maintain alignment with corporate narrative, campaign goals, and go-to-market initiatives
  • Synthesize input from both Marketing and Product stakeholders into cohesive site experiences, balancing brand storytelling with product accuracy
  • Ship iterative improvements as products evolve, using usage data and user feedback to refine site experiences
  • Contribute to design and technical decisions through written documentation and RFCs, consistent with Teleport's culture of transparency

  • Annual expense budget
  • Rest & recovery policies that maximize leave and your ability to recharge
